I’m sorry that it has taken so long to post an update, but Sara hasn’t really been awake until today, and her doctor has enforced an electronics ban. This is so that she is able to rest and not be distracted. So unfortunately she is not allowed to receive phone calls or visitors for the time being.
The goals for today are to get the pain management calibrated to the right level, and for Sara to be able to start walking. Because she has been in a weakened state for several weeks, currently she is only taking in liquid nutrition, but hopefully she will be able to eat “real” food soon.
Chemo will be the next step, but we won’t know more details until she sees her oncologist next Monday. Since she is already in the hospital, her doctor has decided that she should have a chemo port put in either tomorrow or Friday, when she feels strong enough. Inserting the port is not nearly as big a procedure as her colostomy surgery, but understandably she is not looking forward to having yet another surgical procedure.
An exact hospital discharge date hasn’t been decided yet, but hopefully she will be able to go home by the end of the week. I’m sure that she will be much happier at home with her family (and pets!).
An oldie but a goodie, and a reminder of who she is fighting for!

Thinking about you! You have so many people sending you nothing but positive thoughts…feel the embrace..we are here if you!
